Irish festival 12 POINTS wins European Jazz Award

12 Points wins European Jazz Award

Our dear 12 Points festival was presented with the inaugural award for ‘Adventurous Programming’ by Europe Jazz Network at the Jazzahead! Expo in Bremen, Germany recently!

As you know doubt know, 12 Points annually presents young, creative artists in jazz and related music from across Europe. A unique nomadic festival, it is at home in Dublin every second year, and taking temporary residence in other vibrant young European cities on alternate years. Presenting young musicians from twelve different European countries, the 2012 festival took place in February in Porto, Portugal, with a return to Dublin for February 2013.

Artistic Director Gerry Godley of Improvised Music Company, Dublin accepted the award with delight and gratitude, citing the 12 Points ethos in “the importance of believing in a generation of young artists”
The Europe Jazz Network jury reached a unanimous decision, praising 12 Points for “making a huge contribution to jazz music throughout Europe with a unique, forward-looking concept”

Europe Jazz Network (EJN) is a Europe-wide association of producers, presenters and supporting organisations who specialise in creative music, contemporary jazz and improvised music created from a distinctly European perspective.
The membership includes 80 organisations (Festivals, clubs and concert venues, independent promoters, national organisations) in 26 countries.
