Celebratory Concerts this November with IMC25 and Tommy Halferty at 70

Improvised Music Company, Ireland’s foremost producer, promoter and resource for jazz and ethnic music, celebrates its 25th birthday this year, and we will be celebrating with a gala night from 6pm til late on Saturday 26th November, featuring a packed programme of jazz and grooves, as well as a debut screening of a documentary about IMC and the Irish jazz scene since the company’s by musicians and supporters in 1991.

The live performance focus on the night will be on the 'next generation' of jazz in Ireland, with acts such as CEO Experiment, Niwel Tsumbu Trio, SuperUmbra (Chris Guilfoyle’s Umbra expands to 9 for this special performance), Insufficient Funs and Mixtapes from the Underground.

And it’s not just IMC who are celebrating a significant birthday. The career of one of the great elder statesmen of the Irish Jazz scene, guitarist Tommy Halferty, will be honoured at a special event Tommy Halferty:Flyin' Hi’ at 70’ in The Opium Rooms on Thursday 24th November.

This concert will feature two separate sets;

Opening with a compelling duo set from Tommy alongside celebrated British jazz vocalist, and long-time friend Norma Winstone.

Followed by the debut of a suite of Halferty originals, arranged for 7-piece band by bassist, composer and long time friend and colleague Ronan Guilfoyle.
