Simon Jermyn’s Trot A Mouse

It's a small world with Trot A Mouse, whose members hail from Dublin, Brussels and New York. They're convened by electric bassist/baritone guitarist Simon Jermyn, now relocated in Ireland after lengthy spells in Holland and Iceland plus a recent trip to New York, where he recorded with Chris Speed.

The brilliant alto saxophonist Loren Stillman is another talking point among young musicians on the current NY scene and he makes his Irish debut here, just prior to a week in The Vanguard with the iconic Paul Motian, Joining him in the front line is the creative Belgian clarinetist Joachim Badenhorst, who renews his association with drummer Sean Carpio on this short Irish tour.

While their collective jazz credentials are impeccable, these are young musicians with an ear firmly to the ground, and expect music that draws its creative stimulus from a wide radius, including Arvo Part, Blonde Redhead, Thom Yorke, Morton Feldman and Bulgarian folk tunes.
