12 Points Festival Day 1: Wednesday April 15th

Wedesday, April 15th

Project Arts Centre // Doors 7pm // first act 7.30pm

12 Points opens with Strasbourg’s Auditive Connection. Currently ranking high on the French jazz radar, these guys demonstrate deft interplay between vocalist, drummer and intriguingly, cellist wielding this traditionally classical instrument with a true improvisers bow. A band that is full of surprises, across structured passages and open improvisations, the overall effect is of a strong, distinct group sound, with a dynamic that is in constant flux.

Next up is Oslo's Moskus, a band described at "Norway's latest young cult-status candidates.' Their musical roots are planted in the fertile earth of chamber jazz, but this democratic trio’s influences have been nourished by everything from religious hymns to avant garde cinema to European free improvised music. Their second album has been ranked as one of the 50 best jazz records ever to come out of Norway.

The final act to perform on night one of 12 Points is Brussels-bases STUFF. With a band name taken from the opening track of Miles Davis’s cult album ‘Miles in the Sky’, STUFF. are on a similar quest for genre busting transformative groove music. Their playful style references contemporary electronic, 70′s soul, 90′s hip-hop, and past, present & future beat.

Wednesday tickets or four day festival passes can be purchased here.
